Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1965. He is the son of renowned singers Vilma
Varas and Tulio Gagliardo.
He studied at the National Conservatory and the University of Cuyo.
After an intense musical activity in his native country he traveled to Spain where he
lives 20 years.
Since 1990 he has directed at major theaters in Spain as Campoamor of Oviedo,
Arriaga of Bilbao, Colón de A Coruña, Santander Festival Palace, Cervantes de
Málaga, Jovellanos, Guimerá of Tenerife, Gran Canaria Pérez Galdós, Principal
Zaragoza and Alicante, Gayarre of Pamplona, Calderón de Valladolid, Buero Vallejo
de Guadalajara, Carlos III in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Madrid´s National
Auditorium, Alcazar, de la Villa, Madrid Theatre, Calderon and La Latina, in the City
Madrid, etc.He was invited by the most important festivals in Spain and France where he recently
directed the operas Carmen, Tosca, Aida, Barber of Seville, Nabucco, and Rigoletto in
Paris, Grenoble, Lyon, Biarritz, Nimes, Carcassonne, etc.
He has directed over 20 operas and 40 operettas, over 2200 performances, many of
them issued by TVE, making it one of the greatest directors repertoire.

On January 31, 2003, he began his collaboration with the great Argentinian tenor Jose
Cura to directing seven concerts: two in the Teatro Verdi in Busseto, Italy, Regensburg
and Munich in Germany, Budapest in Hungary, and twice in Prague.
In 2004 he directed with great success the opera Aida at the international festival of
Carcassonne with the tenor Lando Bartolini.
In 2005 he directed Aida at the Arena of Nimes with Ignacio Encinas and Olga
Romanko. Overproduction of Carmen in Las Ventas in Madrid with Denis Graves and
Mario Malagnini. Madame Butterfly in Guadalajara.
In March 2006 he played the Concerto No. 21 for piano and orchestra by Mozart K 467
in Sibiu, Romania and France Biarritz.
In 2006 he was hired as Musical Director in Devlet Opera is balesio in Izmir, Turkey,
becoming in April 2007 Musical Director General. Since then, the theater has won
numerous awards, even to be recognized as the best opera house in Turkey. Under the
musical direction, the theater has managed to cross the borders of Turkey, achieved an
international reputation that allowed him to be invited in 2009 and 2010 in Spain. The
Turkish press has praised the work of Tulio Gagliardo, considering that the orchestra
has reached an unprecedented level.
In 2007 she directed in Lima, Peru, the zarzuela season and the end of 2007, directs the
year-end concert at Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto (Canada).
The Foundation Garcilaso de la Vega, discovers the existence of a manuscript of the
teacher Ruperto Chapi, opera: The Death of Garcilaso. Is sent immediately to the
teacher Tulio Gagliardo for analysis. Giving his approval, he begins to work on an
ambitious project that will be released in 2008. The work is thoroughly revised, rebuilt
and reorquestada by Tulio Gagliardo, due to their primitive state. Even has joined an
aria for tenor with Garcilaso´s poem and music teacher Gagliardo, previously
performed at the Teatro Monumental in Madrid, and aired on TVE. The result of hard
work is rewarded with the world premiere of this work, conducted in Izmir and later in
Toledo, also issued by TVE.
From 2008 to 2010 its activities are centered mainly in Turkey, where he directed numerous operas, but also the public French, Spanish and Italian, have seen him in
recent productions like Amica (Mascagni), La Traviata, Carmen, Rigoletto, La Muerte
de Garcilaso , and some Zarzuelas.
In 2010 he settled in Izmir (Turkey).
In early 2010 and to mark the 40 anniversary of the National Radio Choir of Turkey,
was invited to record a CD to be aired on national television in that country.
In August 2010 he addressed La del Soto del Parral in Bilbao, Spain.

In October 2010 Tosca at the Ankara State Opera and a concert with the Orchestra in
Ankara Bilkent Senfoni.
In November 2010 he traveled to France to direct Rigoletto in Douai, Chennevieres sur
Marne, Niort, Romans sur Isere, Frejus, Aix les Baines, and Sète.
