MELDA ÖZKAN

Born in Izmir in 1976, Melda Özkan began her classical ballet training at Ankara State Conservatory in 1987. After graduating, she worked at Ankara State Opera and Ballet for 3 years. She began dancing at Antalya State Opera and Ballet in 1999. In 2004, she participated in the Güldestan Project (The Epic of Roses) by Beyhan Murphy as part of the General Directorate project. In 2011, she danced in the Swan Lake ballet, choreographed by Mehmet Balkan and projectized by the General Directorate. She performed in the ballet 'Yoz Döngüsü' in Egypt and Malta, 'Giselle' ballet in Japan, 'Swan Lake' ballet in Prague in 2011, and the 'The Rite of Spring' ballet choreographed by Mehmet Balkan in Canada. In 2013, she attended workshops on modern and jazz dance at the Impulstanz Festival in Vienna. She participated in the Master Class certificate program with Mehmet Balkan organized by IKSEV. She holds a pilates instructor certificate from Balance Body University.
Since 1999, she has continued her active dance career in all ballet productions in the repertoire of the Antalya State Opera and Ballet.
In 2015, she served as a Choreography Assistant in the Spring Ritual ballet performed at the Kosovo State Ballet. She also choreographed the children's play named 'Şekeronya' at the Antalya State Opera and Ballet. Currently, she continues her artistic career at the Antalya State Opera and Ballet as Acting Ballet Master, répétiteur, and ballet teacher.
