MARİA OTİLİA RADULESCU İPEK

Born in Pitesti,the romanian soprano Otilia Radulescu Ipek started her musical studies by playing violin at the age of 8.But singing has always been the best way she could express her passion for music.Her first singing teacher was Cornelia Voica when she was 15.She won several youth singing competitions in Romania and became a soloist of 'Al.Davila' musical theater in Pitesti when she was only 18 years old. The year 1991 brought essential changes in Otilia's life due to her decision to leave Romanya and move to Turkey.She began to study opera singing with Ayse Sezerman and continued with Gul Sabar at the Istanbul University State Conservatory, attending the master classes of Leyla Gencer and Giovanna Canetti . She was first internationally recognized in 2000 as the second prize winner of Leyla Gencer singing competition in Istanbul and after that she became a soloist of Istanbul State Opera. Otilia Radulescu Ipek made her operatic debut in Istanbul with Sandmadchen in E.Humperdick's'Hansel und Gretel' in 2001,followed the same year by Oscar in G.Verdi's 'Un Ballo in Maschera'.In 2002 the soprano achieved great succes in Istanbul as Violetta Valery in G.Verdi's 'La Traviata', role she also sang in new productions the following year in Ankara and Mersin. Other very special achievements were her potrayal of the roles that followed between 2003-2008 in İstanbul and several opera houses in Turkey; W.A.Mozart; 'Don Giovanni'- Zerlina, A.Borodin;' Prince İgor'-Polovitsian Girl, W.A.Mozart;'La finta giardiniera '-Sandrina, G.Donizetti; 'L'elisir d'amore'-Adina, G.Bizet;'Les pecheurs de perles'-Leila , W.A.Mozart; 'Die Zauberflote'-Pamina. She was highly acclaimed during the season 2008-2009 in Istanbul for her interpretation of the leading roles in two operas first staged in Turkey; G.Puccini;'La Rondine'-Magda and V.Bellini;'I Capuleti e i Montecchi'-Giulietta. During the 2009-2010 season Otilia Radulescu Ipek appears on İstanbul State Opera's stage as Eurydice in C.W.Gluck;'Orfee et Eurydice',Contessa Almaviva in W.A.Mozart;'Le Nozze di Figaro' and Violetta Valery in a new production of G.Verdi;'La Traviata'. Since the beginning of her career she has also performed in many solo recitals in Turkey ,Romania,Germany,Estonia,Lituania,Letonia and Slovenia and she was accompanied by the most prestigious symphonic orchestras in Turkey while singing the soprano solo parts in oratorios like;W.A..Mozart;'Requiem','Missa in C minor',A.Dvorak-'Stabat Mater,'G.Donizetti;'Requiem' and J.Haydn-'Die Schöpfung'. She worked with leading conductors like Alexander Rahbari,Moshe Atzmon,Antonio Pirolli,Tadeusz Strugala,Peter Valentovic,Bujor Hoinic,Peter Vronsky,Serdar Yalcin,Nezih Seckin ,Burak Tuzun and with prestigious stage directors as Gunter Roth,Dimitri Bertman,Beppe de Tomasi,Yekta Kara,Aytac Manizade and many others. She has also began teaching opera singing at the Istanbul University State Conservatory since 2007.
